Monument for October 1944 civilian casualties

Behind the lighthouse ’t Hoge Licht is a monument for civilian casualties who were killed during the bombardment on October 4, 1944. The war monument is a white hard stone cross on a round brick pedestal. A wooden memorial bank is placed around the cross. The graves of the 158 civilian casualties are situated in a halve circle behind the cross.

Every year on November 1, a memorial service with a wreath laying ceremony is organized.
